IWF Interview with WWE Superstar John Layfield:
Preview of Upcoming Seminar at IWF Pro Wrestling School
  Posted: April 2008

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- Mamajuana and 418 Energy present John Layfield…Raw Superstar and former WWE Heavyweight Champion…as Guest Instructor at the Independent Wrestling Federation Training School, West Paterson, NJ.  Mr. Layfield hosts a Pro Wrestling Seminar for IWF students, graduates and indy wrestlers on Wednesday, April 30, at 7 pm.

WrestlingIWF.com had a chance to talk with John Layfield to get his thoughts on his new Energy products, his personal pro wrestling training experiences, as well as what participants can expect at his upcoming seminar at IWF Pro Wrestling School...

IWF: Mamajuana and 418 Energy present a Pro Wrestling Seminar with John Layfield at IWF School in West Paterson, NJ.  First, please tell us how your involvement with these energy products came about?

JOHN: I WAS WORKING ON WALL STREET AND HELPED A NUTRITIONAL COMPANY BUY ANOTHER ONE (COMPANY).  IN DOING SO, I REALIZED AN OPPORTUNITY TO PARTNER WITH THE BUYER AND FORM A JOINT VENTURE TO DEVELOP TARGETED NUTRITION...THAT'S HOW LAYFIELD ENERGY WAS FORMED.

IWF: How do Mamajuana and 418 Energy differ from similar products on the market?

JOHN: MAMAJUANA IS A VIRILITY PRODUCT.  "LIQUID VIAGRA" I HAVE HEARD THE ORIGINAL MAMAJUANA CALLED, WE HAVE CREATED SEX IN A BOTTLE.  WE HAVE ALREADY AGREED TO NATIONAL DISTRIBUTION WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL PRODUCT IS ON SHELVES IN STORES TO ANNOUNCE IT.  YOU CAN BUY IT AT MAMAJUANAENERGY.COM.  IT IS GETTING UNBELIEVABLE TESTIMONIALS.  WE WORKED FOR OVER A YEAR DEVELOPING THIS.  NO YOHIMBE AND NO GINGKO SO THERE WOULDN'T BE ANY PROBLEM GETTING PRODUCT LIABILITY INSURANCE, MADE IN AN FDA APPROVED LAB.  418 ENERGY IS MADE FOR GOLFERS, IT HAS A NATURAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY BUILT INTO IT AND COGNITIVE INGREDIENTS...ALLWHAT GOLFERS NEED.  THERE IS NOTHING LIKE 418 ENERGY, WE MADE IT SPECIFICALLY FOR GOLFERS.

IWF: Looking back, tell us about the early stages of your wrestling career and about your road to the WWE?

JOHN: I WAS BROKEN IN BY BRAD RHEINGANS...1980 GRECO ROMAN WORLD CHAMPION.  I WRESTLED IN TEXAS, JAPAN, MEXICO, AND LIVED IN EUROPE FOR TWO YEARS WRESTLING THERE.  I FINALLY MADE IT INTO WWE IN DECEMBER 1995.

IWF: During your training, who was most instrumental in your development and what was the most important advice you received?

JOHN: DICK MURDOCH ONCE TOLD ME WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY TO AN INTERVIEW "MAKE SOMETHING HAPPEN" AND THAT HAS BECOME MY PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE.

IWF: How long did it take you to "get it" and were there any defining moments that stand out when you truly understood what performing and the business were all about?

JOHN: I DON'T THINK I HAVE IT NOW.  I WENT OUT THE OTHER DAY AND GOT LOST.  I AM STILL WORKING ON GETTING IT.  I HOPE TO GET CLOSE ONE DAY.  SKANDOR AKBAR INGRAINED IN ME THAT THE MAIN EVENT HAD TO BE SPECIAL...IN EVERYTHING FROM DRESS, TO APPEARANCE, TO STYLE.  JIMMY CROCKETT TOLD ME THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER...IT MADE AN IMPACT.

IWF: At IWF Wrestling School in addition to yourself, WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana, WWE Trainer Tom Prichard, WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man, WWE's Steven Richards, WWE's Nunzio, WWE legend Ricky Steamboat, former UFC and WWE Champion Ken Shamrock, and former WWE Diva Dawn Marie have hosted clinics.  How valuable are these sessions for trainees?

JOHN: IT'S THE ONLY WAY TO MAKE IT, THERE IS NO EASY ROUTE.  I WISH THERE WAS.

IWF: This Seminar at IWF Wrestling School marks your first-ever lecture at a training facility for young hopefuls.  What qualities and attributes separate an ordinary "independent" wrestler from a first-class "professional" wrestler?

JOHN: IF I KNEW THAT, I WOULD MAKE MILLIONS.  GUYS WHO MAKE IT HAVE A PASSION FOR THE BUSINESS.  THERE ARE A FEW EXCEPTIONS, BUT FOR THE MOST PART GUYS WHO MAKE IT LOVE IT.  YOU HAVE TO LOVE WHAT YOU DO OR YOU WON'T BE GOOD AT IT.  THIS BUSINESS IS NO DIFFERENT.

IWF: Many trainees and young wrestlers expect to make it to WWE after just a few months or few years of training.  What are some things that young wrestlers need to keep in mind during the early years of their career?

JOHN: YOU HAVE TO LEARN EVERYTHING...EVERYTHING!  TOO MANY THINK WRESTLING IS JUST ABOUT HIGH SPOTS AND PHYSIQUES.  I HAVE CERTAINLY PROVED THAT WRONG AND I'VE DONE FAIRLY WELL IN MY CAREER.

IWF: With about 20 years of experience as a wrestler, you have seen countless wrestlers come and go.  What are the keys to a prosperous wrestling career?

JOHN: STAY HEALTHY AND STAY OUT OF TROUBLE.  I DID NEITHER, SO I GUESS BEING LUCKY HELPS OUT TOO.  CONSTANTLY EVOLVE.  THE BUSINESS IS DIFFERENT FROM WHEN I BROKE IN.  THOSE WHO CHANGED WITH IT ARE STILL HERE, THOSE THAT DIDN'T AREN'T HERE.

IWF:  Thanks for your time John!  Registration for the John Layfield Seminar is underway.  Pre-registration is required by April 27.  For information or to register online, visit WrestlingIWF.com.

IWF Interview with WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man:
Preview of Upcoming Clinics at IWF Pro Wrestling School
Posted: April 2008

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man…the Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All-time…returns this spring as Guest Instructor at the Independent Wrestling Federation Training School, West Paterson, NJ.  Honky Tonk Man hosts an informative Pro Wrestling Clinic and Seminar for IWF students, graduates and indy wrestlers on Wednesday, April 16 and Thursday, April 17, from 6:30 to 10 pm both nights.

WrestlingIWF.com had a chance to sit down with Honky Tonk Man to get his thoughts on his personal pro wrestling training experiences, as well as what participants can expect at his upcoming classes at IWF Pro Wrestling School...

IWF: Take us back to the early stages of your wrestling career and tell us about your training experience?

HTM: I trained 2 nights a week, 3 hours each session.  My training partner was Koko B. Ware.  Our trainer was Herb Welch of the famous Welch-Fuller family of the south.  We trained countless hours on holds, and reversal of the holds, takedowns and escapes.  I was 9 months into training before Herb released me for a match.  After that match, I realized I knew nothing.  I went back to training for another 3-4 months having matches off and on.

IWF: During your training, who was most instrumental in your development and what were some of the most important tips you received?

HTM: My trainer, Herb Welch was the most instrumental.  He had wrestled all over the states and was very well respected by all the wrestlers.  He drilled me on fundamentals and taking the business seriously.  He hated lazy work!

IWF: How long did it take you to "get it" and were there any defining moments that stand out when you truly understood what performing in the ring was all about?

HTM: I took about 4-5 years…somewhere in that time frame to stand back and say, "I have been doing this all wrong!"  Fundamentally I was very good, but the mental part was way behind the fundamentals.  It takes awhile for the mental part to catch up to the physical part.

IWF: At IWF Wrestling School in addition to yourself,  WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana, WWE Trainer Tom Prichard, WWE's Steven Richards, WWE's Nunzio, WWE legend Ricky Steamboat, former UFC and WWE Champion Ken Shamrock, and former WWE Diva Dawn Marie have hosted clinics.  How valuable are these sessions for trainees?

HTM: It is very important for the students to get a chance to listen to and to ask questions of these veterans of the business.  The trainees get a better insight into the big picture.  Sometimes the trainees think the teacher is full of nonsense when he tells them how things really work and the need for doing certain things the trainees might think are boring and mean nothing.  The outside veterans can help shore up the trainees' confidence in the trainer.

IWF: You conducted many clinics at IWF Wrestling School since 2002.  Since that time, 17 different IWF graduates performed with WWE.  What qualities and attributes separate an ordinary "independent" wrestler from a first-class "professional" wrestler?

HTM: It all goes back to the training, the trainer, and the atmosphere of the wrestling school itself.  If the training is professional, the trainer is professional, and the school is run professionally, then the students who graduate and move on will in turn be more professional.  The IWF does all of the above and each of the graduates are professionals when they go on to the next level.  The groundwork that is laid at the IWF camp is one of the best I have ever seen.  Some of the "run of the mill ordinaries" are just that,"ordinary."  They will never move to the higher level simply because they do not know how to take it to that level.

IWF: Yourself, Tito Santana and Tom Prichard among others, have been credited for the success of IWF Wrestling School as a result of your roles as guest instructors.  The common theme is basics, fundamentals and storytelling.  To some young wrestlers, this seems boring when compared to stunts, dives and barbed wire.  Any idiot can do a stunt, a dive or fall into barbed wire, but it takes a skilled professional athlete to master the basics and tell a logical story.  Why are these the most important elements for a wrestler to learn?

HTM: As you stated, anyone at any given time can do a stunt move.  Guys and girls do them during Spring Break all the time, whether they are sober or drunken to the gills.  Being able to put it all together to captivate and audience is a different kind of skill. It is a skill, as I said before, that is not just physical, but it is a mental thing.  You have to be able to control the audience's emotions.  High-flying stunts, barbed wire, fire, blood, and dives off the rafters are exciting to watch, but they have to be put into a storyline that will control emotions.

IWF: Today, with the short attention span of society in general and instant gratification expected, many trainees and young wrestlers expect to make it to WWE after just a few months or few years of training.  What are some things that young wrestlers need to keep in mind during the early years of their career?

HTM: Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals!  Without these elements you are a lost ship on the ocean.  When all else fails, the fundamentals you have learned will always bail you out of trouble.  Short attention span is something we have "given in to."  I think given the right circumstances on any given day, we can, if we are fundamentally sound and have a good understanding of the mental aspects of a good versus evil storyline, any of us can control the audience's emotions for any given amount of time.  Top rated movies go for over 2 hours.  Where is the short attention span there?

IWF: With almost 30 years of experience as a wrestler and having performed in four WrestleMania's, what are the keys to longevity?

HTM: Staying healthy.  Doing those things in the ring that you are comfortable doing.  Never push the limits the body has set forth.  The mind might say go for it, the body says I can't do that.  Listen to the body.  The longer you stay around, the more chances you have to be prosperous.

IWF:  Thanks for your time.  Registration for the Honky Tonk Man Clinics is underway.  Pre-registration is required by April 14.  For information or to register online, visit WrestlingIWF.com.  Honky Tonk Man also appears at the IWF's 11th Annual Reckless Abandon Events Friday, April 18, 8 pm and Sunday, April 20, 4 pm at IWF Centre.  For information or to purchase advance tickets online, visit WrestlingIWF.com.

WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man Tops IWF Reckless Abandon Weekend:
11th Annual Anniversary Live Events April 18-20 in West Paterson, NJ

Posted: April 14, 2008

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- The Independent Wrestling Federation returns with the 11th Annual Anniversary Reckless Abandon Weekend live events this Friday, April 18, 8 pm and Sunday, April 20, 4 pm at IWF Centre, 32 Willow Way, West Paterson, NJ, featuring WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man...The Greatest Intercontinental Champion of All-Time!  Here is a preview of the upcoming cards.

Day one April 18 features a dynamic Triple Main Event.  In a Six-Man Tag Team Match, WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man teams with former two-time IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution, and two-time IWF American Champion Kevin Knight.  They battle new IWF Heavyweight Champion "Simply Stellar" Travis Blake, 340-pound mastodon Franciz, and "High Definition" Chris Steeler with Commissioner Rich Ross.  After Ross mocked Honky Tonk Man on the Eruption Webcast, the legend would like nothing more than to get his hands on the corrupt commish should his team emerge victorious.

The new IWF Tag Team Champions, fun-loving Biggie Biggs and maniac Mike Jenkins...known affectionately as "Bigg Nuts", will be in singles competition.  First, in a No Disqualification Match, Biggs wages war with Frank Scoleri in what's sure to be a wild, anything-goes affair.  Meanwhile, Jenkins meets roughneck Bryan Harley.  How will the new tag champs fare in one-on-one action against their arch-rivals?

In a return bout for the IWF Junior Heavyweight Title, two-time champion Antonio Rivera squares off against challenger Evan Schwartz.  Rivera reclaimed the gold from Steeler at February Fury, but Schwartz plans to make it a short-lived celebration as he attempts to win his first championship.

In a Women's Match, rookie Jennifer seeks revenge against her mentor Jana after the teacher belittled the student after a hard-fought loss last month at March Madness Weekend.

In tag team action, newcomers Matt Saxon and Nes Lopez unite to meet Dan Marques and Kareem West.  Also appearing are Jason Roberts and BPA Barry.

Day two Sunday, April 20 also features a Triple Main Event.  In a Six-Man Tag Team Match, WWE Legend Honky Tonk Man joins new IWF Tag Team Champions Biggie Biggs and Mike Jenkins to face the formidable trio of Frank Scoleri, Bryan Harley, and Evan Schwartz.

In a return bout for the IWF Heavyweight Title, former two-time champion Tony Torres tangles with new champion Travis Blake in a Best 2-out-of-3 Falls Match.  For this contest, the championship committee has banned Rich Ross from ringside.  Blake upended Torres to capture the gold on behalf of The Ross Family at February Fury to end Tony's six-month title reign.  Blake, a triple crown winner having held the Heavyweight, American and Tag Team Titles, looks to turn away the challenge of Torres who wants to claim the belt for a third time.

The IWF American Title is on the line as champion Kevin Knight defends in a return bout against "High Definition" Chris Steeler in their second-ever singles meeting.  Knight took pleasure in Steeler's temper tantrum in February after losing the Junior Title.  Last month, Steeler pinned Knight in a tag match on March 29, then they battled to a 20-minute time-limit draw on March 30.  Now, Steeler attempts to end Kevin's eight-month reign at Reckless Abandon.

In a non-title match, Junior Champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution takes to the mat against former Tag Team Champion Justin Corino.

In a Battle of the Behemoths the features over 700-pounds in the ring, Playboy Vik Voorhees of Atlantic City meets the mastodon Franciz of The Ross Family.

In a Women's Match, Joanna makes her debut with Miss Kristina as she looks to settle her differences with Jana after her recent mis-treatment of the fellow female wrestlers.

In other action, Jason Roberts squares off against Dan Marques.  Also appearing are Matt Bennett and BPA Barry.

Ross Family Returns to Full Strength as Sampson Joins Rouge Group:
Thanksgiving Thunder Event Recap from West Paterson, NJ

Posted: November 21, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- The Ross Family kicked off the holiday season with a bang as live Independent Wrestling Federation action returned with Thanksgiving Thunder Weekend on Saturday, November 17 and Sunday, November 18 at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.  Here is a recap of the extravaganzas.

Day one November 17th featured The War to Settle The Score in a No Disqualification Texas Death Tag Team Match where the fans brought the foreign objects!  IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution joined forces with IWF American Champion Kevin Knight in a losing effort to former American Champion Travis Blake and former Heavyweight Champion Franciz of The Ross Family with Commissioner Rich Ross.  With Torres and Knight set to meet the next day one-on-one as ordered by Boss Ross, tension was in the air in this bloody anything-goes tag team war.  A miscommunication between Torres and Knight enabled The Ross Family to secure the win.

In a return bout for the IWF Junior Heavyweight Title, champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution went down to defeat to challenger Chris Steeler.  Last month at Evil Intentions, Rivera was victorious over Steeler, but Chris ambushed Antonio in the aisle on his way back to the dressing room and left the champ in a heap.  As seen on the Eruption Webcast, Rivera has asked for this rematch but Steeler was able to capture the gold and end Antonio's 11-month title reign.

After issuing an open challenge on the Eruption Webcast to anyone in the IWF, new Tag Team Champions saw singles action as Justin Corino was upended by up and comer Kareem West; while Frank Scoleri turned back the challenge of rookie Mike Jenkins.

In other singles action, Jana straightened out the new attitude of Evan Schwartz with a victory; while Jason Roberts lost to Bryan Harley.

On day two November 18th for the first-time-ever, both the IWF Heavyweight Title and the American Title were are on the line as Tony Torres faced Kevin Knight.  The championship committee appointed former IWF Champion BoneCrusher Sampson as the special guest referee to prevent any possible Ross Family interference.  But Boss Ross had the last laugh as Sampson attacked both men and was joined by Blake, Franciz and Ross in a beat-down of Torres and Knight.

Prior to his officiating task, the returning Sampson saw singles action by prevailing with the BoneCrusher Powerslam in a tough test against Bryan Harley

Ross Family members saw singles competition as 340-pound mastodon Franciz defeated Antonio Rivera; while Simply Stellar Travis Blake was disqualified in his bout against rival Jana.

In an IWF Tag Team Title Match, rookies Kareem West and Mike Jenkins fell short in their attempt to do the impossible and dethrone the champions Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri.

Also, the returning Dangerous Dan was triumphant over new Junior Champion Chris Steeler via count-out, but the belt remained with the champ.  Also, Biggie Biggs defeated Evan Schwartz and Dan Marques in a Triple Threat Match.

WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana Triumphantly Returned October 27-28:
Evil Intentions Event Results from West Paterson, NJ

Posted: October 31, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- It was a historic happening at the Independent Wrestling Federation's Evil Intentions Weekend  Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.  The extravaganzas featured the triumphant return of WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana, a former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion.

Day one October 27 featured a blockbuster Six-Man Tag Team Match as WWE Legend Tito Santana united with two-time IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution and American Champion Kevin Knight to defeat The Ross Family...including 340-pound mastodon Franciz, Simply Stellar Travis Blake and Aaron Stride with Commissioner Rich Ross.  After Torres nailed a spear on Blake for the win, Justin Corino, Frank Scoleri and Bryan Harley ambushed Santana while The Ross Family recovered to attack Torres and Knight.

In a Strap Match not for the weak at heart, Biggie Biggs was successful in seeking retribution against Bryan Harley.  On Eruption Webcast, Harley, Corino and Scoleri conspired to choke-out and hang Biggs.  In this war of the behemoths, they were bound at the wrist with a 10-foot leather strap that was used as a weapon to whip the hide off each others' backs.  Biggs was the first participant to touch all four ring corners consecutively and therefore declared the winner.

The IWF Junior Heavyweight Title remained with champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution after turning back the challenge of nemesis Chris Steeler.  On
Eruption Webcast, Steelers' henchman Mister Gregory scored a controversial win over Rivera after outside interference.  Antonio shook off any lingering effects after the defeat at the hands of Gregory and retained his belt on October 27.

In an Amateur Wrestling Challenge, Steve Camacho went down to defeat as he took to the mat against Justin Corino.  Last month, Camacho's team regained the IWF Tag Team Titles from Corino's team, and Justin was out for revenge in a match that favored his in ring style.  Yet this athletic contest conducted under amateur rules ended in the second round in controversial fashion after Corino scored a tainted victory after striking a low blow.

In a Fatal-Four-Way Gauntlet Elimination Match, popular diva Jana, powerhouse Dan Marques, and up and coming rookie Kareem West were outlasted by Frank Scoleri, who earned three impressive victories.

Day two Sunday, October 28 saw another Six-Man Tag Team Match as Tito Santana joined forces with Biggie Biggs and Antonio Rivera to thwart Justin Corino, Frank Scoleri and Bryan Harley.  After being hung on Eruption, Biggs successfully enlisted the assistance of Santana and Rivera in this grudge match that ended when Rivera pinned Corino.

In an IWF Heavyweight Title Match, two-time champion Tony Torres retained his title with a hard fought win over former champion Franciz.  The mastodon was unsuccessful in his attempt to regain the title from the Latin Revolution kingpin and return gold to the family.

The IWF American Title was up for grabs in an intense Submission Match as champion Kevin Knight held off the challenge of former champion Travis Blake.  While Blake's vast technical wrestling skills almost proved worth, Knight was declared the winner after chocking out Travis with a wooden leg taken from a chair Blake first tried to use as a spike on Kevin.

The IWF Tag Team Titles returned to whom many believe are the rightful owners as Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri dismantled two-time champions Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho after Corino pinned Durnin after a double-team top rope leg drop.

In singles action, Chris Steeler bested Kareem West after an axe kick, while Dan Schwartz pinned Jason Roberts countering a DDT attempt into a roll-up.

WWE Legend Dr. Tom Prichard Returned to IWF August 18-19:
Desperate Measures Event Recap from West Paterson, NJ

Posted: August 22, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- WWE Legend Dr. Tom Prichard, a former Tag Team Champion with The Heavenly Bodies and Bodydonnas, returned to the Independent Wrestling Federation in an attempt to keep The Ross Family in line.  Here is a complete recap of Desperate Measures, held August 18 and 19 at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

August 18 featured an IWF Heavyweight Title Match as challenger Tony Torres of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta faced new champion Franciz with Commissioner Rich Ross.  After Franciz captured the gold from Torres in controversial fashion at Summer Sizzler, the championship committee appointed Tom Prichard as Guest Referee for this return bout.  After the usual Ross Family tactics, Torres was able to take a pair of brass knux away from the 340-pound mastodon, but emotion got the best of Tony as he walloped the champ, prompting a disqualification.  The win extends Franciz' one-month reign.

In an IWF American Title Match where the belt can change hands via count-out or disqualification, Kevin Knight finally upended two-time champion Travis Blake with Rich Ross.  These former Ross Family partners battled tooth-and-nail the past several months, but Travis had nowhere to run and nowhere to hide and was forced to play by the rules.  A surprise appearance by Biggie Biggs prevented Blake from leaving ringside as Kevin executed the KnightFall for the victory to halt Travis' seven-month reign.

The IWF Tag Team Titles were on the line as former champions Burnin' Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho reunited but failed to defeat new champions Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri.  Durnin and Camacho scored a win on Eruption to catapult back to the number one contender's position.  Corino and Scoleri won the titles last month, but the former champions were unsuccessful as Scoleri countered a sunset flip attempt by Camacho and grabbed the ropes for extra leverage out of the view of the referee.

IWF Junior Champion Antonio Rivera retained his title with a win over Chris Steeler.  At Summer Sizzler, Rivera eliminated Steeler in a Triple Threat Bout, but Chris nailed Antonio in the face with the belt after the contest in a disgusting display of sportsmanship.  Steeler then regained number one contender status on Eruption, but fell short in his quest against Rivera August 18.

In a contender's bout for a future Junior Title Match, Jana toppled former two-time champion Nick Sabre.  Sabre emerged with a new attitude after he failed to accept responsibility for losing the Tag Team Titles last month.  But Jana whipped this youngster into shape and showed him what respect is all about.

In other action, Dan Schwartz fought valiantly against Mister Nick Gregory but was pinned after a devastating slam by the 290-pound behemoth; and Biggie Biggs was triumphant against Bryan Harley after the Big Bang.

August 19 saw a Tag Team Grudge Match with Guest Referee Tom Prichard.  Teaming up for the first time ever, Kevin Knight and Tony Torres with Eloy Fiesta fought to a double disqualification against Franciz and Travis Blake with Rich Ross.  After an uncontrollable brawl, referee Prichard disqualified both teams.

Junior Champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution defeated former American Champion Travis Blake of The Ross Family in a non-title match.  Upset with the defeat, Blake laid out Rivera with a cheap shot from behind after the bout.

In a captain's match, Mike Durnin with partner Steve Camacho in his corner, gained a measure of revenge with a victory against rival Frank Scoleri with Justin Corino.

Nick Sabre defeated former tag team partner and new American Champion Kevin Knight via disqualification after reverse decision.  Kevin initially won after the KnightFall, but delivered a second one to his ungrateful former friend after the bell and the ruling was overturned.

In tag team action, Chris Steeler and Mister Nick Gregory defeated Dan Marques and Jason Roberts.  In other action, Biggie Biggs conquered newcomer Jason Jones; while Bryan Harley beat rookie Mike Jenkins.

Franciz Wins IWF Heavyweight Title at Summer Sizzler Weekend:
Recap of Events July 21-22 @ West Paterson, NJ

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- History was made as new Heavyweight and Tag Team Champions were crowned at the Independent Wrestling Federation's Summer Sizzler.  Here is a complete recap of the Live Events held Saturday, July 21, and Sunday, July 22, at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

Day one July 21st saw the IWF Heavyweight Title change hands as champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta was upended in controversial fashion by the 340-pound mastodon Franciz.  After Torres weathered an initial onslaught from Franciz, he executed his patented Bronx Bomb Frog-Splash but a Ross Family distraction tied up the referee.  Franciz was able to recover and catch Tony in a spinning side-slam to gain the victory on behalf of Commissioner Rich Ross and end Torres' eight-month title reign.

The IWF Tag Team Titles were up for grabs in a rematch from last month's Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament Finals as champions Kevin Knight and Nick Sabre successfully defended against IWF American Champion Travis Blake and Shane O'Brien of The Ross Family.  After Blake and SOB upended Knight and Sabre to capture the Commissioner's Cup Crown on June 24, they failed in their attempt to regain the titles on behalf of Boss Ross after Knight pinned Blake.

In a Triple Threat Elimination Match for the IWF Junior Heavyweight Title, champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution turned back the challenge of Jana and former American Champion Chris Steeler.  Steeler first eliminated Jana, then was defeated by Rivera as Antonio remained as the sole survivor to retain the title.

In a number one contender's bout for an IWF American Title shot against Travis Blake, former Tag Team Champion partners competed as Steve Camacho bested Burnin' Mike Durnin as friendship was set aside as Camacho claimed the coveted contender's spot.

In other action July 21st, Dan Schwartz upset former American Champion Justin Corino with a roll-up, while Big Nick Gregory fell victim to the rugged Frank Scoleri.

On day two July 22nd, the formidable duo of Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri surprised IWF Tag Team Champions Kevin Knight and Nick Sabre with an improbable victory.  After the challengers provided fierce opposition, Knight executed the Knight Fall on Corino, but Sabre wanted to be tagged in to gain the pin.  However, he was subsequently rolled up by a groggy Corino and the loss ends Knight and Sabre's two-month title reign.

In a Special Challenge Match, Antonio Rivera with Eloy Fiesta was unable to defy the odds in his effort to slay new IWF Champion Franciz with Rich Ross.  After the bout, the bad blood continued to escalate between Franciz and Torres as they brawled once again.

Also on July 22, IWF American Champion Travis Blake defeated challenger Steve Camacho to retain the title.  The win extends Blake's six-month title reign.

Blake & Outlaw Win 5th Annual Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament:
Complete Recap of Events from June 23-24 @ West Paterson, NJ

Posted: June 28, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- After losing the Tag Team Titles last month, The Ross Family gained a measure of revenge by capturing the Independent Wrestling Federation's 5th Annual Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament.  Here is a complete recap of the live events held Saturday, June 23, and Sunday, June 24, 2007, at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

The sold-out crowd day one on June 23 saw four first-round matches to begin the single-elimination tournament.  In the opener, former American Champion Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri defeated former Tag Team Champions Burnin' Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho to advance after Corino pinned Camacho.

IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres and Junior Champion Antonio Rivera with Eloy Fiesta of Latin revolution defeated a bickering Chris Steeler and Jana to advance.  With the lack of teamwork annoying Steeler, he decided to voice his displeasure to Jana at the most inopportune time, allowing Torres to spear Steeler and score the victory.

IWF American Champion Travis Blake and Outlaw Shane O'Brien of The Ross Family defeated new IWF Wrestling School Graduates Rey Calitri and Dan Schwartz to advance to the semifinals after O'Brien pinned Schwartz.

The final first-round match saw IWF Tag Team Champions Kevin Knight and Nick Sabre defeat three opponents in former IWF Champion and OVW Wrestler Damian Adams, the 340-pound mastodon Franciz and Commissioner Rich Ross to advance after Sabre was rocket-launched by Kevin onto Ross.

In the semifinal bouts day two on June 24, Travis Blake and Shane O'Brien beat Tony Torres and Antonio Rivera with Eloy Fiesta.  With Torres in firm control, Franciz uninvitedly made his way to ringside to provide a timely distraction enabling Blake to pin Torres with a reverse neck-breaker to catapult his team to the Finals.

Kevin Knight and Nick Sabre qualified for the Finals after upending Justin Corino and Frank Scoleri when Sabre pinned Scoleri after a big boot from Knight.

The Tournament Final witnessed Blake and O'Brien defeat Knight and Sabre when Blake pinned Knight after the Outlaw nailed Kevin in the back with a chair behind the referee's back as he was setting up Travis for the Knight-fall.  Therefore, The Ross Family wins the 5th Annual Commissioner's Cup Tag Team Tournament.

Previous Commissioner's Cup winners include: 2006 Fred Sampson & Franciz, 2005 Aaron Stride & Biggie Biggs, 2004 Fred Sampson & Kevin Knight, and 2003 Fred Sampson & Hadrian.

In non-tournament action, Steve Camacho with Jana defeated Chris Steeler by disqualification via reverse decision after Steeler originally pinned Steve, but was caught with a pair of brass knuckles.  Franciz defeated Dan Marques and Jason Roberts in a Handicap Match after hitting the belly-to-belly on Marques.  Mike Durnin versus Big Nick Gregory was ruled a no-contest after interference by Franciz, who was intent on making life miserable for as many competitors as possible.

Torres, Blake Keep Titles; New Tag Team Champions Crowned:
Complete Recap of Mayhem May 18-20 Events @ West Paterson

Posted: May 22, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- While the Heavyweight and American Titles remain with their owners, new Tag Team Champions are crowned at the Independent Wrestling Federation’s Mayhem Weekend. Here is a complete recap of the live events held Friday, May 18 and Sunday, May 20, at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

Day one Friday, May 18, saw IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres of Latin Revolution with Eloy Fiesta defeat Franciz of The Ross Family with Commissioner Rich Ross by disqualification after outside interference by Outlaw Shane O'Brien. When the going got tough for the 340-pound mastodon after Torres nailed a frog-splash, the Outlaw hit the ring to save his fellow henchman prompting the disqualification. The win extends Torres' six-month title reign.

Kevin Knight and his mystery partner handpicked by the corrupt commissioner, Nick Sabre, upset IWF Tag Team Champions Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride to win the titles. Ross' insidious plot, thinking that one of the smallest competitors on the roster would be of no benefit to Knight, backfired as the former Junior Champion achieved the unthinkable in helping to take the Tag Titles away from The Ross Family after a four-month reign of terror.

IWF Junior Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rivera of Latin Revolution defeated IWF American Champion Travis Blake of The Ross Family by count-out. When the momentum clearly shifted to Rivera, Blake escaped the ring, grabbed his belt, and headed to the locker room to avoid losing the gold.

In singles action, Steve Camacho defeated Justin Corino after a roundhouse spin-kick; Chris Steeler pinned Dan Marques while hooking the trunks for extra leverage; and Big Nick Gregory upended Frank Scoleri with a roll-up.

On day two Sunday, May 20, IWF Heavyweight Champion Tony Torres with Eloy Fiesta gained a measure of revenge with a successful title defense against Shane O'Brien with Rich Ross to retain the title.  After the Outlaw missed his Texas Death Drop Elbow, Torres capitalized with a spear and gained the victory.

New IWF Tag Team Champions Kevin Knight and Nick Sabre proved to be fighting champions and defeated Aaron Stride and Franciz of The Ross Family to retain the titles after Sabre pinned Stride following a Rocket Launcher. Because of the pin-fall, Stride is forced to leave the IWF for 60 days.

In a return match for the IWF American Championship, titleholder Travis Blake defeated Antonio Rivera via submission with the Texas Cloverleaf to retain the title. The victory extends Blake's four-month reign.

In singles action, Justin Corino defeated Jana when he countered a roll-up; Chris Steeler pinned Burnin' Mike Durnin while grabbing the rope for added advantage; and Frank Scoleri beat Jason Roberts after a guillotine leg-drop.

WWE's Stevie Richards & Tito Santana Triumphantly Return at Reckless Abandon:
10th Annual Anniversary Held March 24-25 in West Paterson, NJ

Posted: March 27, 2007

(WEST PATERSON, NJ)- The Independent Wrestling Federation's historic 10th Annual Reckless Abandon Anniversary Weekend took place before two sold-out crowds on Saturday, March 24 featuring WWE-ECW Superstar Stevie Richards, and Sunday, March 25 featuring WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana.  Here is a complete recap of the extravaganzas held at IWF Centre, West Paterson, NJ.

Day one March 24 featured an unprecedented triple main event.  In a 3-on-2 Handicap Match officiated by WWE-ECW Superstar Stevie Richards, former IWF Heavyweight Champions united as Kevin Knight and BoneCrusher Fred Sampson defeated IWF American Champion Travis Blake and IWF Tag Team Champions Outlaw Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride of The Ross Family.  As seen on the Eruption Webcast, Commissioner-for-a-Month Eloy Fiesta banned mastermind Rich Ross from the building.  The end came when Blake fell victim to the BoneCrusher PowerSlam.

Afterwards, Ross Family members had words with Richards, a former WWE Hardcore and ECW Tag Team Champion appointed by the championship committee as the special enforcer to maintain order.  After an ambush, Richards fought off the hooligans and nailed Travis with the famous Stevie-Kick.

The IWF Heavyweight Title was on the line as champion Tony Torres with Eloy Fiesta representing Latin Revolution defeated Ohio Valley Wrestling prospect Damian Adams by disqualification after interference by Franciz.  Adams, a former IWF Heavyweight, American and Tag Team Champion, returned to the federation falling short in his hopes of regaining the top prize.  Adams, a 2001 IWF Wrestling School graduate, battled Torres in a classic wrestling bout in their first-ever singles meeting.  Torres won the gold at Thanksgiving Thunder in November 2006 and extends his four-month reign.

The third main event was a Triple Threat Match for the IWF Junior Heavyweight Title with Tables, Ladders and Chairs legal.  Champion Antonio Rivera successfully retained his title against former three-time champion Dangerous Dan McGuire, and former two-time champion Tommy Trouble.  Rivera won the belt at Tournament of Champions in December 2006 and triumphantly fended off two challengers after pinning Trouble in the anything goes contest to extend his three-month reign.

Steve Camacho with Jana tangled with 340-pound Franciz of The Ross Family.  Franciz attacked Camacho at the conclusion of the Knight-Outlaw Lumberjack Match at February Fury and Steve was out for revenge against the mighty mastodon.  However, a timely distraction by Justin Corino at ringside enabled Franciz to execute his spinning side slam for the win.

Meanwhile, Burnin' Mike Durnin squared off against the disgruntled Justin Corino.  After Durnin scored an upset win over Justin last month on the Eruption Webcast, Corino snapped and brutally attacked his friend Mike.  After Durnin proved he could match Corino move-for-move on the mat, Justin resorted to pulling Durnin's trunks during a roll-up to score the controversial pin-fall.

In other action March 24, the fiery Shawn Moore went down in flames at the hands of the rugged Frank Scoleri, as Scoleri derailed the comeback attempt of the newcomer.

Reckless Abandon day two March 25 also featured a gigantic triple main event.  In a Si
x-Man Tag Team Match, WWE Hall of Famer Tito Santana joined forces with Tony Torres and Antonio Rivera with Eloy Fiesta, to beat Travis Blake and Franciz of The Ross Family, and hired gun Justin Corino.  Santana, a former WWE Intercontinental and Tag Team Champion, was a natural fit to aid Latin Revolution, as Torres scored the pin on Corino.  The aftermath also saw Santana hit Justin with his legendary Flying Forearm.

In a Special Challenge Match, Fred Sampson defeated Damian Adams in their first-ever IWF singles meeting after Fred hit his patented BoneCrusher PowerSlam.

The third Main Event was a wild Bullrope/Strap Match for the IWF Tag Team Titles as former title-holders Mike Durnin and Steve Camacho fell short against champions Shane O'Brien and Aaron Stride of The Ross Family.  In this bloody battle, Camacho and SOB were tied together at the wrist by a bullrope while Durnin and Stride were linked with a leather strap.  Outlaw and Stride won the titles from Durnin and Camacho two months ago at Winter Warfare and have extended their two-month reign of terror.

Kevin Knight upended his former IWF Tag Team Champion partner Dan McGuire after winning with the KnightFall.  Two years ago at Reckless Abandon, they were the most unlikely tag champions in IWF history.  Last year at Reckless Abandon, they feuded over the Heavyweight Title, while this year they battled one more time to settle the score.

In other singles action March 25, popular diva Jana fell short against the pesky Tommy Trouble; while big Dan Marques lost in a rematch against Frank Scoleri.
